Our Lodging & Towns
LIVE AND STAY LIKE THE LOCALS
Discovery Ski Area has the great fortune of being surrounded by not only the gorgeous scenery of the Big Sky state but also some of the most charming towns in Montana. Whether you are traveling with your family or a group of friends, you will find a great place to stay after an amazing day on the slopes. Be sure to take it all in — the diners, the shops, the friendly locals, the lodging — enjoy Montana at its finest.
The ski area sits amid many lodging options in the neighboring towns of Anaconda and Philipsburg and nearby Georgetown Lake. Even better, their professional staffs will help you discover the friendly towns and entertaining nightlife throughout the area. From hot springs, hotels or B&Bs to renting a house, cabin or even a yurt, there is something for everyone. Please note: Discovery Ski Area does not allow overnight parking; the gate is closed at end of business each day.
ANACONDA AREA
Anaconda is named after the mining company that all but built Montana, and it still wears that history like a badge. A tour through town reveals pristine historic buildings and the well-preserved artifacts of mining, like the smelter stack located at the edge of town. Located just 25 minutes from the base of our mountain, Anaconda — with its variety of hotels, colorful bars and restaurants with delicious foods — makes for a great outpost.

PHILIPSBURG AREA
This is a perfect town for a winter getaway. Tucked right up against the Flint Range, Philipsburg has quickly become one of the most popular attractions in Montana (and was even featured on the “Today” show!). Downtown, you’ll find B&Bs, local bars and an amazing brewery, restaurants and diners, and shops — all situated along a main street you’ll swear you saw on a postcard. Be sure to plan a little time for shopping. P’burg’s Sweet Palace has wonderful homemade candy and the Sapphire Gallery next door features jewelry made with locally mined sapphires. Best of all, it’s only a short drive from Discovery’s chair lifts.

GEORGETOWN LAKE AREA
Georgetown Lake is one of the prettiest places you’ll ever see and a recreation wonder in any season. In winter you can ride snowmobiles on the lake, strap on your skates or test your luck at luring giant trout up through the ice. Naturally, the lake is a magnet for vacation rentals and down-home resorts, so it’s a good lodging option. As an added bonus, it’s just a few minutes from our base.
